Finn Week at Zululand Yacht Club (Richards Bay)

Finn KZN Provincials: 19th – 20th July 2010
Finn Nationals: 21st – 24th July 2010

Time to leave the cold behind and head for the warm KZN coast for a sailing feast!

Hi Folks,

A reminder of the two regattas coming up in Richards Bay in just over a month. Please let me know whether you will be coming down and joining us for some great sailing in the beautiful Zululand winter weather. I obviously do not have all Finn sailors contact details, so if you see that I have missed somebody, then please forward an email to wadeciv@iafrica.com

The KZN Finn Provincials will be held on 19 and 20 of July 2010, with the Nationals following from 21 to 24 July 2010. For those wishing to come down earlier, the Lasers have their KZN Provincials starting on 17 July 2010, so you will be welcome to come out and do some training.

Richards Bay in July typically has lovely warm weather, without the summer humidity and the serious cold of other spots. The winds are generally light to moderate, with lovely warm water. We’ll be aiming at good competitive sailing without breaking backs. The NOR allows for sailing offshore and inshore, so we will have sailing to suit all tastes. Besides all of this boring stuff, our beers are cold and wines are fine! Our Club has a full time kitchen for breakfasts, lunches and suppers and we’ll be laying on a spit, or braai or two. We have camp sites and ablutions within easy reach, so let us know if you’d like to camp.

Please drop me an email and let me know whether you, your families and any other Finn sailors are coming down. Right now, I need an idea of numbers, so that the breweries are amply warned of the impending lifting of the recession.

Any other queries, thoughts, comments, please add to your replies and I’ll be happy to assist. As Finn sailors are generally big, hairy, ugly guys, we urge you to bring along your better halves and kids to spruce up the event. The kids can swim, sail and play and your better halves can sun tan and help me with the scoring, whilst you whinge about the race officer and curse that idiot that didn’t give you water 50 boat lengths from the mark !

Cheers for now and looking forward to receiving your replies,Mike Leigh
